Wegovy and Zepbound on Medicare: Is Coverage Coming?

GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, Medicare access, obesity treatment, Zepbound, Wegovy, Ozempic, and new cancer research are changing the conversation around long-term health.

In this Newsmax interview, I break down two important updates around GLP-1 medications: the push to make weight-loss drugs more affordable for some Medicare patients and new research looking at whether GLP-1 use may be linked to lower breast cancer risk.

These medications have changed obesity treatment in a major way, but access still matters. A drug does not help anyone if patients cannot afford it, stay on it, or get proper medical guidance while using it.

We also talk about why early research around GLP-1s and cancer is worth paying attention to, but should still be interpreted carefully. A promising study does not mean we suddenly have all the answers. It means we keep studying, keep asking better questions, and keep treating obesity like the serious medical condition it is.

The bigger point is simple: obesity care is evolving quickly. Patients deserve access, evidence, and honest conversations about what these treatments can and cannot do.
